Angella Emurwon is a Ugandan writer, Filmaker, screen writing mentor and award winning playwright. She has been a full time Writer/Director in both film and theatre for the last nine years. She has been part of the Maisha Film Lab Screenwriting Mentor Team since 2014 working with writers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, as well as a playwriting mentor with different organizations (e.g British Council, Kampala International Theatre Festival) over the last five years. She has written two 3-5min plays for Climate Change Theater Action (NY) performed at several venues in Lithuania, USA, and Canada.
In 2017 she contributed her short play I AM to #NotAnotherWoman, a response by various artists to the killing of women in and around Entebbe.
She is passionate about storytelling especially as a means of learning from and about ourselves.
