Refugees Across Spaces

Refugee communities in host countries are often isolated form the local population, limiting contact and interaction between refugees and hosts. The result of which are suspicions of the other, negative stereotypes and communal tensions thereof. Uganda, host to the largest refugee population in Africa is no exception. At the Cultural Avenue, we recognize that protracted refugee settlements can cause communal conflicts especially given the scarce resources.

About the program

The overarching objective of our flagship program, Refugees Across Spaces, is to “Stimulate socio-cultural inclusion of refugees in support of local solutions and/or de facto integration”. We seek to break the isolation of refugees and build bridges connecting them to their hosts through cultural platforms and expressions. Explore the projects, so far carried out under this program.

Continuously seeking to establish working relations all around the world in pursuit of our mission.
